ollowing
graduation from the University of Georgia in 1973, Mr.
Gilbert continued his education with numerous specialized
courses and seminars from such distinguished institutions
as NYU, MIT, The Appraisal Institute, the International
Council of Shopping Centers and the Environmental Assessment
Association.
His professional work experience has included commercial
banking, mortgage lending, real estate development and
brokerage, historic restoration, construction and project
management, as well as appraising.
In 1982, Mr. Gilbert co-founded Hunnicutt Equities,
later sold to Florida Progress and renamed Talquin Development
Company. While with Talquin, he managed the development
of the 330,000 square foot Barnett Tower, the
635-slip Harborage at Bayboro marine complex, conversion
of an historic school building to apartments, and other
major projects.
Additionally,
Mr. Gilbert has practical experience with environmental
issues as they relate to real estate development, including
wetlands, islands and DRI studies.
Mr.
Gilbert is a member of the Appraisal Institute, is a
licensed Florida Real Estate |
Broker
and a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser
No. RZ000940. He is a member of NAIOP and the International
Marina Institute, the National Marina Operators Association
and the National Marine Manufacturers Association.
His
civic and community activities are numerous, including
a member of the Council of Elders and former Co-Chairman
of the biracial St. Petersburg Community Alliance, is
on the board of directors of the Tampa Union Station
Preservation and Redevelopment, Inc., and is a member
of Leadership St. Petersburg and Leadership Tampa Bay.
